I am hereby changing ’sun umbrella’ to ‘rain umbrella’. How can it be an umbrella to ward off the sun where there is no sun. All I see outside my local pub is a large umbrella hosting several sad smokers who are avoiding the streams of rain dripping from its points.
And while I’m at it - a new type of hat - the summer beanie. A light woollen beanie for those chilly summer mornings.
And finally I must say in the strongest possible terms:

So the wireless festival was very good, exactly the kind of gig I like - ie not too crowded.
It was the first time I had seen Morrissey in person, despite having been a fan for many years. His opening song - couldn’t have been better ‘Last of the famous international playboys’. Other gems included Vicar in a tutu, Death of a disco dancer and How soon is now.
Beck was also playing the main satge and while he was pretty damn good, he was also pretty damn uncommunicative. I’m not sure he uttered a word to the audience - not even an ‘Hello London’…

…or at least they cost around £45 + booking fee + postage (even if you print your tickets from a web page!).
I refer to the fact that after 20 years of being a Morrisey/The Smiths fan I am finally going to see Morrissey live! Yes, me and the Boyf are dragging ourselves to Hyde park tomorrow for the Wireless festival. The Boyf being familiar with the etiquette of festivals only by hearsay, asked me if he should be bringing a tent..I think he was just joking?
Disappointingly the boyf does not share my love of Morrissey and is mainly there for Beck. As for me I’m looking forward to the main event, but also The Guillemots, The Wombats and Liam Finn (Neil Finn’s son). Hopefully pics will follow early next week.
In the meantime here’s a pic of me at enjoying a lovely day on a quiet island made up mainly of coastline in the Algarve:

A strange thing about beach life in Portugal - if you walk a wee ways between beaches you tend to see a lot more flesh than you would expect. In fact more willies in the space of 10 metres than I have ever seen before. No small amount of boobs and lady parts also.
The strangest thing about them though - the fellas were all terribly interested in picking up shells off the beach - naked of course. So you’d wander along and now and then you’d see the the faint twinkle in the distance of some fella’s bumhole as he bent from the waist to pick up a shell that had caught his eye.
The fact that all of the nakedy fellas were interested in shell collecting seemed more than a little coincidental…

4pm yesterday I was stepping off a small speedboat which had just deposited me and the Boyf back to our tiny village on the Algarve, just in time for a short walk back to our apartment for a lengthy lounge on the terrace before a shower and changing for dinner. We’d just come from a relaxing 3 hours on the beach.
4pm today, stepping on to a train at Gatwick, bound for London Victoria. Unfortunately we struck the train containing 80 school age teenagers also bound for London (or so a handy notice on the train window informed me)…it was hell on train…and an embodiment of all that is wrong with modern Britain…
